The Wayne State University Board of Governors unanimously voted Attorney Richard Bernstein of The Bernstein Law Firm as its chairman of the board.
Bernstein was elected by Michigan residents to the Board of Governors in November 2002 and has served as a Governor of the University since January 2003. His term runs through 2010.
Bernstein, a Birmingham resident, served as vice chair for the past year, before his elevation to chair. "In accepting this position, I hope to help guide the institution," Bernstein said. "I'm enthusiastic to do my part to push forward and survive these challenges and work with the board to develop new and dynamic ways to ensure this happens for our students and staff."
The board consists of eight members elected by the people of the State of Michigan for eight year terms.
