
Disabled Win Access to Michigan Stadium

Michigan Paralyzed Veterans scored a major legal victory in their lawsuit against the University of Michigan.
Attorney Richard Bernstein filed the disabled veterans' lawsuit, demanding that U-M make Michigan Stadium accessible to wheelchair users. The U.S. Department of Justice intervened in the litigation, by joining the Paralyzed Veterans in their claim that U-M must comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
On March 10, 2008, U.S. District Court Sean Cox signed a Consent Decree, which requires UM to add hundreds of wheelchair accessible seats throughout Michigan Stadium. In addition, U-M must making stadium parking, restrooms, concessions, and other facilities fully accessible to individuals with mobility impairments.
